About our setup

We are using a Davis Instruments Vantage Pro ISS (Integrated Sensor Suite). It's currently situated on the roof of the Clubhouse (the former location out on the flagpole didn't work well because of reliability issues with Davis' previous-generation 900MHz-technology wireless technology). From there, the telemetry goes to the display inside the House. The display is equipped with Davis' (great karma on the name, eh?) datalogger expansion module with a USB interface. That feeds a PC running WeatherLink 5.7 software (using a couple of active repeater powered USB extension cables due to distance).

WeatherLink processes the captured data every 5 minutes and uploads the most current and short-hour data to our web site, using our in-house WiFi network. Connectivity from our facility to the 'Net is also wireless, using Motorola radio technology to provision a 512KB pipe. Longer-interval graphs, such as weekly, monthly and annual are processed once a day and uploaded overnight. CWOP and Weather Underground are updated every 5 minutes.
