Hurricane Irma – Commodore & Dockmaster’s Hurricane @ DIYC
Sep 6 @ 8:00 am – Sep 10 @ 11:00 pm

Note from the Dockmaster:

Hurricane Irma is going to have an impact on DIYC.  The question is how much and what type.  Wind is going to be an issue regardless.  It would be prudent for all wet slip boats to have all sails, canvas and any lose articles removed from the boats prior to the anticipated arrival of the storm.   That decision and responsibility rests with the boat owner or their designee.   If you have someplace to take the boat that you believe is safer, the Dockmaster recommends you do so.   All boats on “A”  and “B” docks need two to three dock lines (preferably three) fore and aft on both port and starboard.  The boats on “C” dock should have no less than two lines.    If the hurricane stays strong and comes up the west coast, the Dockmaster will evacuate with everyone else.   So, individual boat owner preparation now is paramount.

Note from the Commodore:

The work party scheduled for September 9th is being post-poned due to Hurricane Irma. We will keep you posted on a new date. Stay safe out there!

Note from the Dry Slips:

Hurricane Irma is going to have an impact on DIYC.  The question is how much and what type.  Wind is almost certainly going to be an issue as could rising water.  All dry slip boats, please remove your boat if you have some place to take her.  Please remove any lose items from the surrounding area of your slip by the end of the day Friday, the 8th.  Failure to do so will result in the Dockmaster and helpers removing said items and the boat owner will be charged up to $100.00 as determined by the Board of Directors.  If you leave your boat in your slip, remove all canvas, sails, masts, or such items that produce windage; drop masts and tie to your boat.  Make sure boats are firmly tied to their slip anchors, boats tied to their trailer, and add water to the hulls for weight if needed.  If the hurricane stays strong and comes up the west coast, the Dockmaster will evacuate with everyone else so individual boat owner preparation is paramount.  Don’t procrastinate!
